A series X-3D from the top

The X-3D is an improved replacement for the mechanical gyroscope. It supports the china board and the X-Base. Like all the other X-Tuning parts it can only be purchased at the X-Ufoshop.

[edit] Advantages

It is more stable than the original mechanical gyroscope due to its improved precision and feedback control.
It is able to stabilise the UFO in 3 (nick/roll/yaw) instead of 2 (nick/roll) axes like the mechanical gyroscope.
It is more agile on higher flight modes.
It is the only gyroscope that can be mounted on a X-Base
It is capable of withstanding loopings. (see Flip of Death)
It is shock resistand.
It is temperature compensated.

The X-3D provides 4 flying modes which can be altered using jumers.

The parameters of each of the 4 modes can be freely programmed via USB. Thus the description Beginners, Good-natured, Fast and Experts only apply to the factory presets.

Massive steering commands don't have that much effect on the UFO. This way beginners can adapt to the flightbehavior of the UFO more easily.

A slightly faster mode than the beginners mode. You should used this if you have learned how to handle the Heading-Lock controlling style of the X-3D.

This setting is even more faster than the mode before.

This ist the most agile mode the X-3D provides.

[edit] USB Interface

The USB-Interface can be used to change settings or upgrade the firmware of the X-3D or X-Base.

There is a software called X-Control providing a simple way to perform those tasks. To connect X-3D to a computer a special USB dongle has to be used which must be purchased separately.

There now is a 3-pin connector for cameras on the X-3D.

These pins also can be used to trigger any external device like a camera using the Trainer-Button at the upper right of the Silverlit transmitter.

[edit] Connecting the X-3D to the china board

Before you connect the X-3D to the china board you have to check for a construction defect on the the china board. On some bords there is a specific shortage which would destroy the X-3D instantly. Be sure to get that covered before you move on removing the mechanical gyroscope - read (external pdf) X-3D-voltage-check.

To connect the X-3D to the china board you will need an additional single wire (often referred to as the blue wire) which must also be purchased separately. It connects the 2nd pin from the left (the quartz crystal is pointing to the viewer) of the china board and the middle pin on the X-3D.
